Endings and Beginnings

Life is full of endings and beginnings, and much of the time they all overlap a bit. This past week was an ending of sorts and a new beginning for me. Personally, I hate to label things using such definite terms. I fully believe that nothing truly ends but rather opens up new doors as you move on from one thing to the next. Nobody really knows where the path leads, and often times the detour you take one day runs parallel to the path you were just on and rejoins it. I appologize for the vagueness of this opening, but I don't like to write too specifically on certain subjects.

This past week with Dodge Dance Company, we just finished our summer intensive. It went very well, and I have to say again how impressed I am with the students. We threw a huge amount of choreography at them and they soaked it up and performed it beautifully on Friday. Each of them improved so much throughout the week, it was such a joy. This last week really meant a lot to me in another way, as I was able to spend a a full week with the other DDC dancers. They are some of my best friends in the city, wonderful dancers of course, and I love them all very much. You guys rock and only good things lie ahead, but you all already know how I really feel.

I feel both excitement and nerviousness about the unknown this fall, but (for DDC's sake) let's just say I will nail it when it comes. Dig that y'all.

One last thing, for those of you back in Seattle (and Shoreline), I'll be back August 12th to the 29th, with the first week being the best to hang out, since we'll be in Wyoming at my cousin's ranch for much of the second week. It will be awesome to catch a small break from the city and I'm so excited to take my boat out and get some wicked waterskiing and wakeboarding in! Hope to see those of you who are in town.

Note to those of you in the NYC area, if anyone is up for the beach (or other things) this week or wants to hang when I get back for Labor Day, please drop me a line or shoot me an email.
